Five for Friday!!

What a terrific week! I accomplished so much this week! Did I finish everything??? Of course not.... teachers never do. There is always more (I think we secretly love that busy-ness).

So, let's see what five random things I can come up with.....hmmm....

Do you love that little sign??? So, thanks to Doodle Bugs Teaching for hosting this linky and also for supplying us with the cute little buttons. Want these??? go {HERE}

Random, but important...I finally was able to take the minutes (lots of them) to get my TPT store open! YAHOO! If you are a Science lover/teacher you can get a cute little set of posters describing the Engineering Design Process. It's a Freebie, cute as a button.....go look at it:

Also, a total freebie is an emergency Spelling  homework set of two worksheets. I have found that sometimes I have a major brain meltdown and discover I forgot to run off a paper kids need. That last second dash to the copier and handing sheets out at the door is so not cool! I even admit a few times to canceling homework because I completely forgot to even invent it. So, last year I made these little sheets and copied a bunch of them and kept them just for those insaniac moments. Admit it .... you have them too....

My favorite product I added is a Non Fiction Features booklet idea thingie. It's a set of templates you can use to have your kids make a non fiction features booklet. I found a stack of old paper back science textbooks a couple of years ago and stashed them away (cause you know teachers never throw anything away.) So, when this idea began to develop about the nonfiction booklet, I thought, "Wait a second....what if the kids find the non fiction features in those old science books, cut them out, glue them into booklets" ..... genius, right? Anyway, I used these in my classroom for at least two years and we loved them. The packet for sale also has a sheet of ideas of ways to use the booklets, and vocabulary cards, and photos, and four versions of the cover, and wow...it's pretty good!

There's more, but just go {HERE} to visit my store!

Funny of the Week:
This week we had Open House Night on Thursday and Grandparent's Day on Friday.
Also, it was Book Fair Week--- (those grandmas will buy anything and everything)....
So, yesterday I was talking to a little third grader in the Book Fair room and she was picking out quite a stash, but not buying anything. When I commented about all the books she was thinking about, she said, "Hey, my Momaw is coming tomorrow and I  am gonna shake her down for this!"
Made me laugh!

This is very random, but I am wondering if anyone is having trouble finding clothes this season. Everything I see in the stores is totally whack-a-doodle, not appropriate for school, uncomfortable, or just plain ugly. I found this dress at Loft.com

I really love it and it is now 50% off ---which is enough reason to buy it right there..... but it is non returnable. What???? Do they want my business or not? I think I am going to order it anyway.

Finally, Monday is payday, fall is in the air (even in Alabama), football tomorrow, a new Currently linky soon, and I love my STEM Lab job.... you cannot get any better than all that!

So, what about you? Are you finding new fall clothing? Do you ever forget to make copies for your class?
~Thanks!

Well, Yahoo and Finally!

UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST!

Can't you always tell when blogger teachers are back in school!?? We get super busy and blogging, sadly, comes last....well actually I have been quite overwhelmed with getting my new STEM Lab going. It is profoundly wonderful! And, ......drum roll......I finally, finally made the leap into super stardom with a TPT store. (We can only hope the stardom follows!)

Anyway I was able to get several products available right now and I have several more to add soon! (Like tomorrow).

First up:  a poster set about "Keeping Calm"! It is the cutest thing with little scientists and great words for a display or bulletin board.

Second: a set of Engineering Design Process posters. Also, cute little scientist kids! (and free)
These are half size posters, so if you are looking for something full size, you might want to look at these:

Third: an emergency spelling homework or classwork set of worksheets. I don't know about you, but at least once a week I discover I forgot to run-off something I needed. At the last possible second I am racing to the copier to print out something to hand to kids as they go out the door. It's awful, but sometimes I even forget to invent the thing I need---- hence these emergency homework sheets! Ha, and they are free!

And finally, a full STEM lesson set. This is one we just completed at school and it was fabulous! Kids loved it, they learned a ton, and it was super easy with very little cost for supplies. My goodness, it is just about paper airplanes! Kid heaven!

More tomorrow!!!  I added another wonderful set to TPT this afternoon. It's all about non fiction features! I used this in my classroom for several years and we loved it. The kids create their own non fiction booklets and use them all year!

ENJOY!!

Currently~ September!!

I awoke this morning to a dreary~overcast~ rainy day-- which is actually great because it will force me to stay inside and clean AND finish lesson plans...BUT I also awoke to Farley's Currently!!! Which means the cleaning and planning can wait a few minutes....

Head on over to:

So here's my September Currently~~~~~~

And a few extra words....

LISTENING to....and reading about the football player from Texas that is behaving so badly. I mean, really, just play football. Do you have to taunt other players? Try to set a good example for all those little kids that are watching... I think this is exactly what I was listening to last month, but it was baseball players taking drugs then....jeez!

LOVING.... my new bracelets! One is a sideways hammered cross with two colors and pearl accents. The other is an initial with a pearl charm. (btw...you can find these on Etsy, but I found them at a local shop!)

Also, if you have one of those add a bead bracelets, did you know you can buy beads from Hobby Lobby at a fraction of the cost. I got these for less than ten bucks! Total bling!

THINKING.......about the next STEM lessons! Check the photos below for what kids have done in the lab to begin the year!

Fourth graders are making airplanes and learning about variables. After testing three versions of a standard plane they will redesign and make the ultimate grand supreme plane. (I am working on this lesson plan package for a TPT item!!)

Fifth graders are building a device to raise a basket off the table top. After testing and presenting they will have a chance to redesign--- which they are doing frequently anyway! AWESOME STUFF!!

WANTING.... fall clothing season! I am ready for those in between seasons things. I have some new jackets and three quarter length tops, but the weather has decided to be in the upper nineties in Alabama right now. That’s pretty typical, but this summer we have NOT had our normal weather pattern. It did not reach the mid nineties until about a week ago! This time last year it was 107 everyday! Here’s my favorite pinned outfit lately!

NEEDING.... to finish a Bulletin Board area! I have an assigned area to decorate near our cafeteria. My original idea of painting a tree fell through (mostly because a similar tree is already painted nearby). So I searched Pinterest for an idea and found this:

Well, I liked it but did not want to spend hours cutting out letters. Premade letters would work but I like that the words are in different fonts. The next option was to create this and print the words…nah, too much ink! So, I just drew them. Yep, grabbed some Sharpies and some big, fat point markers, and drew.
I will admit I used my computer and the fonts I have to mimic these posters, but I free-handed these (while watching football, I might add...). *******UPDATE***** Here's a photo of the finished display! I added some fabric streamers just to make it funny!

A little side by side comparison  just 'cause I like to play with my phone!

Finally, PLANS for this month.....

Take a day off....I really am taking a sick day this month and doing NOTHING. Truly. Why, even today, a holiday, I will be going to school to put up that bulletin board display and take some ferns...I need a day to stay in my jammies, read, and watch stupid TV shows...
Hem pants....I have two new pairs of jeans (from the MAXX) and they need hemming. This is what happens when you are super short. Saving money at the Maxx usually means I will splurge and take pants to my fav alterations shop, but not today!
Clean out the attic spaces. REALLY. I have a walk- in attic space that is piled with junk. Needs a good dumping and now that the weather might be changing I can get in there and work!

Thanks, again, Farley, for this monthly chance to vent and think and connect.
