Currently - January 2016- and a Give Away

Happy New Year!
Y'all I promise you this is a profound date.
When I was a little girl whenever we mentioned a year like 20-anything it was a wonder.
An unimaginable year in the future, yet here we are.

It's Currently January 2016.
I could stop right there with this post, but I want to join Farley's monthly linky!

So, what am I currently up to????

to Good Morning America in the background!
I LOVE all the people on this show. I think they do a great job with the news, but also just being human. I was once a fan of The Today Show, but then that awful thing happened with Ann Curry and I have not watched it since then. Anyway, I recently read this:
Fantastic book! It's a gripping story of Amy having a mammogram on air to promote breast cancer awareness- only to discover she had breast cancer. It's the story of her diagnosis, treatment, and beginning of her recovery. Worth your time!

My Cleaner House!
Long story, but here's the main part.
A closet in my extra bedroom exploded one day right before Christmas. I mean exploded. I have no clue what set it off, but I noticed the door was ajar... and made the mistake of opening it to see what could be going on.
The contents of the closet rained down on me like confetti. Only I didn't win anything....jeez.
It seems that one of the supporting braces of the largest hanging section bent in half and that part collapsed. All the clothes and boxes on the shelves fell over and BAM! So, I spent a half day pulling everything out, vacuuming up old dusty stuff, and repairing the brace. In this process I bagged up three sacks of junk to throw away and two sacks of clothes to give away.
Now, that room is neat and tidy and
I decided to do one room each day during winter break.
My garbage man hates me.....

About Engineering.
It never ceases to amaze me just how much we engineer things. If you have ever repaired anything in your home that is engineering. If you have ever rigged up a device to make something work, that is engineering. Look at this:
You will never guess in a million years what that is......
It's the attaching device for the gondola at Heavenly ski resort. We were standing in line and I happened to glance up and see this and it is just a marvel! Who thought of all that? Just look at how all those little wheels and criss-crossed wires work together.
Just think, today's kids, the ones in your classroom right now, will be the engineers that create devices even more amazing than this.

To finish some school work!
I had a major Brain Pop one day this week and made a list of possible STEM challenges for the next three months! I am so excited about the topics and what we are going to build. Here's why:

How could you ever get tired of seeing kids work together? Just look at their little hands holding and shaping the models they are building!
Also, take note of the leopard jacket in the top photo!
That little girls is serious about her clothes!

It is just so fun to look forward to many more months in my STEM Lab and look forward to more of this adventure with my blogging friends!
Have a fabulous 2016!

  4. Carol, You just crack me up with your excitement and manner of speaking. I just love your blog. Congratulations on your milestone, that is so totally awesome!!! And I know all the kids will enjoy your STEM ideas.

    1. Awww thanks Brittany! I usually just type whatever is poring out my head at the time! I should write books- yeah in between all the other stuff I am juggling! Thanks for visiting!

  5. Congratulations on your milestone! We have a fairly new house that is under warranty and so we keep having things that need to be fixed. When I read that your closet exploded, I was like what?!...why?!...that's probably going to happen here. Thankfully our closets are pretty empty still.

  6. I am going to have to send you a picture of my clean closet. Very funny we have been in our house over 16 years and have just kept shoving things in a closet of ours. My husband had enough...this last week we spent over 4 hours purging and emptying out the closet. I now have empty shelves. The poor garbage man got a bottle of wine and a sorry from us...we had 11 garbage bags. We didn't take them all out due to guilt! It feels good though. Congrats on your milestone! It has been a great year due to TPT. I am so appreciative! Happy New Year!
